Blackwater Lodge

The lodge is incredible! What a nice room, comfortable beds and lounge, and great location for a quick getaway! It is an older place, but the renovations have made it modern and feel really nice. The only bad part was the HVAC vent being right above the bed and that our "canyon view" was extremely minimal. We had to go to the window, and stand against the side wall to look out it at an angle and see barely anything. Also, there was a room 90° angled away that could see directly into ours, so we spent the time with all the curtains and stuff closed. Overall, it was a great night! Even though it's not exactly part of the same place: avoid the restaurant! It was BAD.

Am absolutely breathtaking view during the fall. I can imagine winter being gorgeous as well. I could say whatever about the hotel itself, staff and whatnot. But, in all reality, people come here for the views and they are top notch.

Well managed and very clean. We stayed in the lodge. If in the area I would go out of the way to stay again. Breakfast buffet well worth the price. Nothing “cheesy” about the hotel or its restaurant.

We chose to stay at the lodge and purchased tickets to sled on the sled run as a long weekend with our kids. We rented a vacation cabin and used the lodge for its amenities. The restaurant, pool, and lobby and lounge areas mostly. There was board games in a cabinet, gift shop, comfy chairs, heated indoor pool and hot tub. The cabin we rented was nice and comfy, full kitchen, 1 TV, wifi, and front and back porch. There was no paper towels provided but there was dish soap and toilet paper and trash bags, towels and bedding. The beds were comfortable enough and we really enjoyed our stay. Only downfall was the vacation cabins were an 8 min drive away from the lodge so we had to get in the car to drive for our meals instead of a short walk like we thought.

This is a great place for a little get away! Lots of hikes near by and the sledding was so much fun. I will say i was extremely impressed by the lodge, it was very clean and comfortable. I have never felt so at home staying at a hotel/lodge before! Highly recommend:)

We were going to Thomas WV for a concert at the Purple Fiddle and had rented a room at another hotel but that hotel didn't look like someplace we wanted to stay so we went on a search for another and found Blackwater Lodge just an additional 6 minutes away. They were extremely welcoming and the lodge was so beautiful. Would recommend for sure!! Wish we could have stayed longer.

I wanted to write a review because we just came back from staying in the lodge for two nights. It was clean, The staff were friendly and helpful. We had several things That needed to be fixed. The bathroom door would not stay shut. The shower door would not stay shut. And the TV was all messed up which we didn’t watch much TV but still, it would’ve been nice to have one that actually had a good picture. We really enjoyed the pool and the game room with the fireplace. I wanted to post a review about the restaurant because I had heard that the food was not very good but we had a great experience with the food. It was expensive, but it was really good and since it was kind of nasty out, it was nice not to have to go anywhere to eat. On New Year’s Eve they had a wonderful buffet and like I said it was expensive, but we felt like it was worth it. The breakfast bar was also delicious. The beds are very comfortable. I love the Wild Mountain shampoo, conditioner, and soap!!

We had an absolute blast at Black Water Falls lodge. Staff was wonderful, the room was clean and warm, the pool was warm and the pool area was warm. Our 4 year old granddaughter was so happy to swim. The restaurant staff was extremely helpful and the food was very good. If you’re planning a trip to BWF plan on eating at the restaurant, it’s the only game in town. The sledding was so awesome. I’m 61 the ride up was a little difficult and hard on my back. A little core strength would go a long way. Staff at the sledding run was very very nice. Again wonderful experience. Todd Pittsburgh
